April 5-9. 2021

So. Many. Online. Courses!!

If we’ve been hanging out on the internet for a minute, then you’ll know that I offer online coaching and LIVE courses.

Things like, “Get the K on Instagram!” or “X Blog Posts in 14 Days” or “The Art of Negotiation for Influencers.”

And now, I’m bringing back the class to teach you how to run an online course.

Hi, I’m Brianne (she/her)! My about page is HERE, and I’m betting you’ll Google me, so here’s a shortcut to my Instagram, Twitter and blog. Happy creeping!

Monetize Your Knowledge!

Straight up (lol), I offered my very first class because I needed to come up with $400 in 48 hours to buy a dressform. I sat down and I was like, “What can I have 10 people pay me $100 to learn?”

“What can I have 10 people pay me $40 or even $100 to learn?”

Fast forward, and my first course on blogging was born. I had cash in hand in 48 hours. That dress form? Added it to my cart and it showed up – I WAS STOKED!!

Since then, I’ve designed and almost different 10 courses

Fast forward a few years, and I’ve created about 10 different courses, teaching those courses multiple times to students.

I’ve made tens of thousands of dollars, and teaching online courses has been key to my ability to fund my fashion design and creative aspirations. Last count was roughly $20K, but I need to finish my 2021 taxes to update that number.

Sounds cool Brianne, but no one is going to pay me. They can just use Google!

There’s this idea that because something is “Googlable” that folks won’t take a class from YOU about it. “Why should someone pay me, Brianne, when they can just watch YouTube videos on this subject?”

A few reasons:

  • Who to trust?!?! There’s a TON of information on the internet, but it’s hard to know what sources to trust.

  • TIMELINESS! Sure, someone may have created a bunch of YouTube videos – but I bet those YouTube videos are a few years old. A lot of that info may be incomplete or no longer valid.

  • Conflicting sources, fml. Give me a topic, and in 2 minutes I’ll have 2 different online articles saying OPPOSITE things about how to do it.

  • Too much time! Listen, I pay for courses and coaching – and I know I *could* go spend 20-40 hours learning stuff through research. But I’d much rather pay for a 5-hour course and save time!!

Now I Want to Teach YOU!

If you’ve been thinking about offering an online course, but don’t know where to start, THEN THIS IS FOR **** YOU ****! I’ve made a ton of mistakes and learned a lot about how to run and teach live courses via Facebook group.

A few examples:

  • Why it’s better to offer live over pre-recorded courses

  • Why I use Facebook Groups

  • How to price a course

  • How to find students

  • How to test an idea for a course before investing in time to develop it

Are you a fit for this course?

Okay, so not everyone is a fit for this course. Here’s how to know if you are:

  • You feel a little nervous about teaching content, but also really excited!

  • You regularly have folks pop in your inbox or DMs, asking to “pick your brain”

  • You want to help and share your knowledge, but you also know your energy should be compensated

  • You use social media regularly

  • You’re a coach, freelancer, creative or consultant — and you want to add a revenue stream//be more affordable to people who can’t afford your 1:1 hourly rate (or want a place to direct “brain pickers” to to pay you)

BONUS

Here are a few bonus qualities that aren’t required but are helpful:

  • You’ve taken an online course that has more than 3 hours of content

  • You have a blog or website for yourself

Below, I’ve shared the course schedule.

Course Schedule

  • Monday, April 5: Pick a Topic that Will Sell // I’ll go through how I pick topics, and how you should pick your FIRST course topic. We’ll talk in the group, and 1:1, about what topic your first course should be on. I’ll share why specific course ideas aren’t a good idea – and I’ll also share what courses of mine have BOMBED. If you need someone to tell you which course idea to start with, I got you!!

  • Tuesday, April 6: Designing Your Course // During this class, I’ll teach you a super simple system to plan out a 5-day course, with 5 hours of content. If you’re overwhelmed trying to figure out how to plan content, then this course is for you.

  • Wednesday, April 7: PRICING & MARKETING YOUR COURSE // This topic seems to terrify everyone, because showing up and saying, “I know about [x], AND YOU SHOULD PAY ME TO TEACH YOU ABOUT IT!!” can be real scary for folks. But honestly? Your network will be so relieved that there is a socially acceptable way to “pick your brain.” We’ll also talk the pros/cons of sliding scale pricing. If you’re freaked out by marketing, then this class will help you move past your fear and share your course!

  • Thursday, April 8: BOUNDARIES! (Part 1) // How to set boundaries and communicate with participants how long they have access to your brain, how to determine if you want to offer 1:1 coaching sessions, etc. When I first started offering courses, boundaries were a huge issue. If you’re worried about how to set boundaries and expectations, this class is for you.

  • Thursday, April 8: PRACTICE (Part 2) // How to practice your “on camera” teaching style, how to recover if you BLANK in front of people, and how to get the eff over stage fright.

  • Friday, April 9: LAUNCH & Sales Copy// TIME TO CLOSE, PAL! In this interactive workshop, I’ll go through how to write a sales page (like this one ;) ), how to answer questions pre-course and how to suck it up and launch your course. I

  • BONUS: I will also review the slides for your course, and I will do 2 rounds of edits on your sales copy page!
